Welcome to my online shop. I create artisanal ceramics, marrying contemporary design with traditional techniques in my garden studio in the Cotswolds. The shop will remain open until 3rd November 2020.
My functional ceramics collections are principally made of earthenware clays sometimes adorned with gold lustres and decorated with beautiful rich glazes and slipware. I continue to develop the series, so don’t hesitate to come back to complete a set or expand your homeware collection.
The pit fired collections reflect my artistic explorations of our connection to memory, time and history. Whether they are lithographs, inscribed with a unique story or imprinted with wild grasses and leaves, the pieces are designed to look like archaeological finds and geological specimens. Marked heavily and dramatically by the firing process, the pots mix colour and form with lustre and sometimes language, which makes them enchanting.
The Fossils collection is designed to look like fossilised plants. Marked heavily and dramatically by the firing process, the objects mix colour, form and lustre with vegetal imprints, with also a sense of the smell of the pit fire. They explore the essence of moments through time and clay.
Pit fired vessels have a beautifully compelling and complex surfaces. Varied colours and patterns can be obtained from items that are placed with the pots, and which turn into vapour and swirl around the pieces in the pit. Colours develop and mottle the surface of the porous clay, with almost celestial clouds of oranges, purples, reds, greens and blues. These are purely decorative, and cannot hold water nor are food safe, due to the low temperature firing.
Tableware and homeware pieces in my different design collections. These are all about conviviality and these ' let's get together' moments!
